safe for humans to eat, of course :)

It may be cruel to convert your dog to veganism also, but these vegan snacks are anything but cruel! They come together very easily and are very versatile. Swap the yams for yellow sweet potatoes, or even purple. Or use cooked squash or pumpkin instead. Add some vegetables if you want to give your dog more fiber ;) You can make this recipe with minimal energy expenditure — by using your microwave instead of the enormous oven or energy inefficient gas stovetop. These dog treats don’t taste half bad to me!

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oats

Directions

  1. Add 3 tbsp of water to chia seeds and set aside.
  2. Microwave sweet potato on a plate with some water for 6–7 minutes, or until you can easily insert a fork.
  3. Mash the sweet potato into a puree, add in the rest of the wet ingredients, including the chia egg.
  4. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then mix into wet ingredients.
  5. Roll out on a floured surface into a thin sheet, then cut into squares.
  6. Bake at 350F for 25 minutes, or until golden.
  7. Cool before sharing with your furry friends, and even taste-testing for yourself. Enjoy!
